Otter sightings & others

Some excitement around from the summer. In July, as I walked towards the footbridge near the bing in Waterside, I heard a strange chirping noise over at the water. Sure enough I was lucky to catch a quick glimpse of 2 small otters, running for cover.

Recently in September, another couple of locals said they saw 2 otters (perhaps the same ones) further downstream in the grassy area away from the footpath. keep an eye out folks and report it if you can!

I forgot to mention that as well as the regular deer I've seen I did get my first sighting of the kingfisher that most have seen. Would be great to get a shot of it

Hi Danny, My name is Karen, I live in Waterside and I am also a member of the Scottish Wildlife Trust. I have a huge interest in the wildlife of Waterside and have some photos. I seen my first otter last month in the Luggie Water and have had many sightings of the kingfisher. Its great to have someone like yourself who cares about this very important area of wildlife. Will get some photos to you soon. Karen.

I also spotted that kingfisher a fortnight ago. I was standing on the bridge taking a photo of the heron when the kingfisher flew right under the bridge. Such a fantastic flash of blue!
